Introducing PARKS ABUZZ®!
State Parks Can Play a Critical Role in Saving Pollinators
Pollinators are a vital component of our ecosystem and an essential link to the world’s food supply. Our Maryland State Parks play an important role in providing habitat for, and education about pollinators, but they can’t do it alone. Your support of Parks Abuzz® will enable state parks to play a role in pollinator conservation through:
- Creating or improving habitat
- Educating the public on the role pollinators have on our everyday lives
- Leading by example in the community (pollinator habitat and demonstration gardens)
- Training individuals on how they can be better stewards of pollinators
- Serving as living laboratories for researchers
Small Grants/Big Impact
15 New Maryland State Park Projects Promote Conservation & Education
Provided funding for state parks across Maryland to collaborate with community partners to improve shoreline habitats, build interpretive displays, renovate trails and campgrounds, create pollinator gardens, and more.
During times like these, we need our parks more than ever. Because of COVID, the use of state parks has increased dramatically. In addition to hosting more visitors than ever, parks face increased challenges from a changing climate and diminished budgets.
